I bought a new crochet pattern last Wednesday before leaving the LYS after my last felted bag class. It’s the Fiber Trends Crocheted Crusher Hat. I bought some Berroco Blackstone Tweed in Plum Island for the hat. I did a few rounds on the hat on Wednesday night when I got home. I had it finished by lunch time on Saturday. At least I haven’t forgotten how to crochet since it’s been so long since I picked a crochet project up.

The hat is an upcoming class at the Yarn Gallery. But since the project is rated at the Advanced Beginner level (I consider myself between intermediate and experienced according to YG’s levels), and having done a dozen or so amigrumi plus a handful of hats, I figured this would be no problem for me. Besides, I didn’t want to take a spot in the class when I know the techniques used in the hat. It’s very basic. Crochet in the round (continuous rounds), increasing, single crochet and slip stitches.

I stopped by the LYS after work with a question on my sock that I’m working on and took the hat in with me. I carried everything in my nicely felted bag from the other class I was taking. I ended up getting my picture taken with the hat on and holding my bag. I guess the picture is going to end up posted on their blog.

I started a project with my first skein of hand-dyed yarn. I did go with the Crochargosy pattern on Crochet Me. It’s a real easy pattern. I haven’t gotten too far because I’ve recently become addicted to FarmVille on Facebook. Here’s the scarf so far….

So far it looks like a bikini bottom, but that will obviously change once I get a bit farther on it. Just gotta stop playing FarmVille, PetVille, and FishVille………

One of the first crochet books I bought touched my favorite type of movie-horror. The book was Creepy Cute Crochet: Zombies, Ninjas, Robots, and More! by Christen Haden. She has a handful of free “expansion pack” creatures on her website.

To my utter delight, she’s got two Silent Hill characters, Robbie the Rabbit and most recently, Pyramid Head. PH is my favorite baddy in both the game and the movie. Once I saw the website entry, I knew I had to crochet him. Robbie needs some company on his shelf. It took me all but a day to get PH crocheted up. This guy took a little more in the assembly department, but it took less than 15 minutes to get the plastic canvas cut and stitched together for his head structure.

So without further ado, here is Pyramid Head:

Here are some smaller pics

The left pic is PH from the front, the right is PH before his head was attached.

**Disclaimer, Silent Hill is a survival horror game, some people might not like the gory nature of the picture of the real PH. If you get offended by violence, blood, gore, horror, etc please do not click the link. He’s just a fictional character, but I know some people get offended by stuff like this.

For anybody who has never seen the real Pyramid Head, here’s a link

Why do you tempt me so?

Last night I got their new catalog in the mail. The last thing I need is more yarn. But they’ve got so much nice stuff. I keep looking at the yarn thinking that I can make this project or that project with that type of yarn. I look at the lovely colors of lace and think, “I can find a nice lace weight pattern to use that for.” So far I’ve restrained myself. I just ordered last week and got my yarn last Thursday. I”ll wait for a bit to order. That Wool of the Andes Bulky is wonderful, it’s nice and soft. I really want the Galaxy colorway, but I’ve got a lot of purple stuff. But how can you resist your favorite color?

I’ve already used the Spumoni colorway for my MacBook Bag……

The Spumoni is the multi-colored yarn. Which you probably guessed that by now. The pattern was improvised by me. I used continuous rounds. I was debating felting it, but I decided not to. It’s a bit big, but I couldn’t let it felt too much. It gives me an option if it stretches out. I do have to come up with something to take some of the pull off the strap. I can’t use the strap when the computer is in the bag, it really pulls.

I’ll have to think about it.

Even though I have a handful of crochet projects started, I felt like doing something quick and more or less mindless. While browsing my  queue on Ravelry . I saw this quick little scrubby by Judith Prindle. It took a very short amount of time to do. It was an easy way to keep my mind on something but not have to really concentrate.

Mine is made with Lily Sugar ‘n Cream cotton yarn.
