I made some progress on a couple of knitting projects today. I finally got around to felting a bag that I finished last month and I finished up a pair of fingerless mitts. I’m trying to finish up the projects I have started. I’m not going to embarrass myself and say how many of those work-in-progresses I have. It’s quite a few. I’ve got a short attention span when it come to completing knitting and crochet projects.

These are the mitts I finished today.

My bag that I felted is made out of Lamb’s Pride and Noro Kureyon. The Lamb’s Pride felts really fast. The Noro, not so much. My handles, which were done in the Lamb’s Pride were done after about 10 minutes in the washer. It took another 15-20 for the Noro. The handles look a bit small in comparison to the rest of the bag, but they are very, very sturdy. Right now it’s resting on a towel to dry. I don’t think it’s going to take as long as my other felted bag did. I’m really happy with it though. I think I’ve developed a love for Entrelac.

All I want to do is find more patterns using Entrelac. I do have one scarf queued on Ravelry to use up two skeins of Noro Tayio that I have in my stash. I’m anxious to start it, but I have a fair isle class coming up next weekend. You learn FI by making a cowl and mitts. So for someone only knitting for a year it’s a big project. Especially for someone who has never done Fair Isle.

I bought a new crochet pattern last Wednesday before leaving the LYS after my last felted bag class. It’s the Fiber Trends Crocheted Crusher Hat. I bought some Berroco Blackstone Tweed in Plum Island¬†for the hat. I did a few rounds on the hat on Wednesday night when I got home. I had it finished by lunch time on Saturday. At least I haven’t forgotten how to crochet since it’s been so long since I picked a crochet project up.

The hat is an upcoming class at the Yarn Gallery. But since the project is rated at the Advanced Beginner level (I consider myself between intermediate and experienced according to YG’s levels), and having done a dozen or so amigrumi plus a handful of hats, I figured this would be no problem for me. Besides, I didn’t want to take a spot in the class when I know the techniques used in the hat. It’s very basic. Crochet in the round (continuous rounds), increasing, single crochet and slip stitches.

I stopped by the LYS after work with a question on my sock that I’m working on and took the hat in with me. I carried everything in my nicely felted bag from the other class I was taking. I ended up getting my picture taken with the hat on and holding my bag. I guess the picture is going to end up posted on their blog.
